The MV Scorecard: Watches

As recent six- and seven- figure watch-auction records attest, precious metals are never a bad investment, especially at a time when only the bluest of blue-chip brands are reliable picks. Here Julien Schaerer, director of the world's premier watch auction house, Antiquorum, selects new timepieces he believes will escalate in value in the coming decades. Schaerer's advice: "Learn to separate watches that you would just like to acquire and those that may gain in value. Remember that, like most luxury products, watches can devaluate. Use online forums to get some direction, and buy the best you can afford."
