The Original Store at 116 Cherry Street

Henry Sands Brooks purchased this building for $17,000 and opened his first clothing store at this site April 7, 1818. Prior to this illustration, Brooks had been joined by his brother David to form "H.&D.H. Brooks & Co." Henry Sands Brooks' sons would rename it "Brooks Brothers" in 1850.
