Although Mortensen was born in New York City, his American mother and Danish father moved the family to South America when he was 2. Mortensen lived in Argentina (with a brief stint in Venezuela) until he was 11 years old. He has said that as a child, he wanted to grow up to be a soccer player or a cowboy. Remaining loyal to the Argentine team of his childhood, he has made the San Lorenzo soccer scarf a staple of his wardrobe. (Photo: Norman Jean Roy)
